Ok, so it's revealed a bit into the series that the usual pattern for the Project Tic-Toc folks is that, once Tony and Doug are time-shifted, they usually lose communications with them for several hours before they can establish a visual again.
Doesn't exactly give the guys a lot of privacy though, eh?
Scene: everyone -- and I mean EVERYONE -- at Project Tic-Toc is in the main room, turning knobs and fussing over very advanced (for the time) computers and such.
The Time Tunnel goes into projection mode.
Ann: General, we're getting a signal!
Kirk: Good, we need to get Tony and Doug out of there!
Doug (onscreen): I think we lost those indians that were chasing and trying to kill us. However, they're good at tracking, so we should cross this river. The pounding, pulsing river, the never-stopping stream of...
Tony (looking uncomfortable): Uh, Doug, could you let up for a moment there?
Doug: Tony, what's wrong?
Tony: Um, if anyone at the Tunnel can hear me, I need *private* time for a moment...I must relieve myself.
Kirk (getting on microphone): Tony, we read you! Disengaging viewer mode! Everyone, you know what to do!
(Ray breaks out a deck of cards, Kirk and the security people/Jiggs light up a cigarette, etc.)
Suddenly the viewer mode comes back on...
Kirk: ANN! Get away from the viewer controls! That's an ORDER!
Ann: Mmmmmm, TON-Y...
Sorry ;D
