I have the documentary of Forty Years of Science Fiction Television Featuring: Star Trek. It starts with the earliest of shows that were mostly aimed at children in the 50s to Star Trek: The Next Generation. Half of it was dedicated to the original Star Trek, since it showed the bloopers that had barely been seen by anyone at the time outside of the show.
I knew it had a bit about The Time Tunnel in it, so I went back and watched it years later after I saw about half of the episodes (in hopes of not catching any spoilers, since I had seen half of the show at the time, at least), and that part came up during a brief showcase of the "prolific" (as he was called) Irwin Allen! He only got a couple of minutes (maybe not even that long) of screen time, showing pics of Lost in Space, Land of the Giants and Time Tunnel, but on a show where half of it was dedicated to Trek that was still cool though since I wasn't really familiar with him at the time.
A more detailed summary of it can be seen here that I did, and here's the story on the Discussion page as to how I got it in the first place:
So, how the heck did I end up with a videotape copy of this show? Easy, back in the 1990s I got a temp job once that involved cleaning out the back area of the local Paramount station (back when they were actually a recognized network) here in Houston. I set one box aside that had several Star Trek promo tapes in it. There was a gigantic garbage bin that me and one other guy filled up pretty full; the truck that was supposed to empty it never showed up. Considering that the thing probably weighed several tons, the temp boss for the day let us out a few hours early. I asked if I could keep three tapes that I found (since they were going to be thrown out anyway) and she said sure, just don't get caught with them...so I did...and didn't
I ended up only keeping the 40 Years of Science Fiction one. I knew The Time Tunnel was mentioned in it, but lo and behold I was surprised when I rewound it and watched it earlier today to finding that Irwin Allen had a brief mention in it! So bam, I had to bash out an article on it. Too bad they spent TOO much time on the original Trek and bloopers, but what the hey, he still got a nod though. Pretty cool!
